Diamond Edge 320 Review

This post is a review of the Diamond Edge 320 compound bow. I’ve been told that this bow is intended to replace the Diamond Edge SB-1, but I am still waiting for the final proof of that statement. One thing that the Diamond Edge 320 has over the Diamond Edge SB-1 is an extra inch of draw length. This makes the Edge 320 a bow I would be more able to shoot since I have over a 31-inch draw and the Edge 320 is said to go to a 31-inch draw. One surprise about that detail, however, like the SB-1, is that it won’t reach the advertised peak draw length when it is at the maximum draw weight. In my testing, the Diamond Edge 320 only reached a 30.5-inch draw when at 70 pounds draw weight. The SB-1 behaves the same way. It is advertised as a 30-inch draw length bow, but at peak weight, it only reaches 29.5 inches.

Below is the data chart and video I produced on the Diamond Edge 320. You will see that it does reach the speed of 320 feet per second, but that is at the 31-inch draw setting. Very often, IBO or ATA ratings are determined at 70 pounds and 30-inch draw length with a 350-grain arrow. The letters MF DL on the chart stand for Manufacturer’s Draw Length. You can see what the Manufacturer’s draw length was and what the measured draw length was in my testing. You can also see what the peak weight draw weight was at each of the draw length settings. As you can see in the data chart, the actual draw length was only measuring what was advertised from 24 through 29-inch draw lengths. The rest cam in a bit low. At the bottom of the chart, you can see how much draw weight came off per limb bolt turn. You can also see how that impacted the draw lengths.

All in all, I think the Diamond Edge 320 is a decent bow and can be used by a wide audience of shooters. The lower draw length settings are not very functional, and I would not set this bow up for someone to use under a 19-inch draw length. While it is a decent bow, I think it doesn’t perform as well as the Diamond Edge SB-1 so I am surprised that they might be replacing the SB-1 with this model.
